Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers make all the difference at the Heritage Museum.  Please share your time and talents!

Museum Store Greeter:
As a greeter in the Museum, you have the important job of being the first person a visitor encounters.  Museum Store volunteers greet visitors, offer information about the exhibits, make sales in the gift shop and may perform small administrative tasks.

Mail Team:
We share our happenings with the community and our members through mailings of brochures and newsletters. Work with a team of mail volunteers to get the word out!  If you like working with others and would like to meet people, this is the opportunity for you!  Commitment varies; our mailing team leader will contact you when needed.

School Program Volunteer:
Do you enjoy working with children?  Help us with school group visits!  School program volunteers can help by assisting with tours or even by developing activities for group visits.  This opportunity is also perfect for college students looking for experience working with kids.

Lighthouse Docent:
We are now working closely with the City of St. Joseph to make our award winning Lighthouse open to the public for historical tours. If you are interested in joining us in sharing this wonderful opportunity with our community, please call our Curator Tracy Gierada at 269-983-1191 (x17), for one of the most unique opportunities ever!

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please call the museum at (269) 983-1191.
