Marco D. Tomasi, Ph.D.

Dr. Marco Tomasi is a leader and innovator trained to bring out the best in people and organizations. His pursuit of socially relevant challenges has led to a career spanning safety, security, defense, intelligence, teaching, coaching, health and wellness, therapy, management, engineering, marketing, machine learning, strategic planning, and leadership. Whether working with clients at the individual, small group, or corporate level, he has enthusiastically embraced projects ranging from local challenges to global problem sets. To new endeavors he brings with him experiences from over 20 years in the field of behavioral psychology, as well as 24 years in project management, 15 years in program management, and 12 years of experience at the senior/executive level of leadership. Those management and problem-solving experiences are augmented by over two decades designing and implementing instructional systems, over 4 years teaching at the undergraduate level, 4 years teaching and mentoring students at the graduate level, 4 years of experience providing clinical services in public school systems, and over 16 years coaching/mentoring elementary, middle school, high school, and adult participants.

Marco is a graduate of Lake Michigan Catholic High School in St. Joseph, Michigan. While attending Michigan Technological University as a civil engineering major he discovered a passion for human behavior and transferred to Western Michigan University to complete his undergraduate studies. Marco continued his education at Florida State University (FSU), working on his master’s and doctorate concurrently. He remained at FSU beyond the completion of his degrees in a faculty post until transitioning to the private sector in support of government-funded projects. In 2014, Marco was invited to lead a new business venture which offered the opportunity to return to Southwest Michigan.

The common thread through Marco’s career has been making the world a better place by helping others succeed. During his early days in engineering, he applied behavior-based safety techniques to improve the working environment on his job sites. As a clinician, Marco worked with his clients on skill acquisition, adaptive social behavior, and classroom management, while embracing multidisciplinary approaches for improving academic outcomes, the learning environment in general, and overall quality of life. His efforts as an intelligence analyst were in direct, rapid support of the Warfighter and active operations. When teaching, he designed, implemented, and evaluated instructional systems to improve student learning and success. His research and consulting projects seek to bring out the best in others across school, workplace, and community settings. As a coach, Marco strives to instill data-driven training methodologies with his student-athletes that have both immediate success on the field of play as well as long term lessons that generalize to life after youth sports.

Marco met Jessica Tomasi (née Cretsinger) in 1999, and they married in 2005. Jessica holds Master of Science in psychology with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Presently, she provides center-based behavioral services for clients diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Marco and Jessica have been frequent professional collaborators throughout their careers and host a podcast together. They have four young children, all of whom are very active in ice hockey. In their spare time, Marco and Jessica enjoy participating in multi-sport competitions (e.g. triathlons, kayak- triathlons, aquabikes) and biking with the local cycling clubs.
