The Heritage Museum’s collections reflect the history of Benton Harbor, Saint Joseph, and surrounding communities in Michigan and the Great Lakes region.

Our archives and storage areas provide a professional environment for the long-term care of a wide range of artifacts and archival resources. Object and archival collections are shared with the public and other preservation organizations through changing exhibits and a museum loan program.

Our research library is open to anyone interested in historical research.
Available resources include:

  • photographs and postcards
  • books
  • reference volumes
  • periodicals
  • maps
  • manuscripts
  • business records
  • slides
  • oral history tapes
  • vintage films

Due to COVID-19, The Heritage Research Library is currently closed.
