EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE HERITAGE MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER

DESCRIPTION:

The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center opened to the public in 1998 and features exhibit galleries, dedicated storage for artifact and archival collections, a research library, and spaces for hosting educational programs, workshops, conferences, and other cultural events.

In pursuit of our mission, HMCC has worked to become a dynamic center for history, culture, and education in Southwest Michigan.  Our past accomplishments, exhibits and resources have earned awards from regional and statewide organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate shall have substantial experience in fundraising and donor relations, high level people skills as well as experience in the non-profit realm and arts/cultural affairs.  A BA/MA in a related field is preferred however a proven past history of leadership, staff supervision, grant writing/receiving, financial expertise and exceptional communication skills will be taken into consideration.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Priscilla U. Byrns Center building and grounds as well as the management and successful operation of the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center.  The Executive Director is charged with implementation of policies set by the Board of Directors, annual goals, action plans, protection of the organization’s financial assets, financial management and stability, donor relations and cultivation, marketing and public relations, personnel management and customer service.

Salary Range:  $40,000 – $60,000, based on experience and qualifications
